Filter marker groups by clicking legend

I am not sure why I didn’t do this a long time ago…. You can now filter the markers on the map by clicking on the particular icon in the legend. This is useful to mappers who have large datasets and use the grouping functionality.

To undo the filter just click anywhere in the legend that’s not a marker or label.

Is there a way to tag an address for multiple groups or would I need to just double-enter that address and label it with the other group name?

Thank you for this great resource. I'm wondering if there's a way to filter by multiple groups i.e. I want to display multiple groups at the same time, but not all groups. Currently I can click on the legend to show a single group or all groups.

    Hi
Wonder if you can help me with the grouping functionality on the map.
I can only get 6 colours for 6 groups – it defaults all the other records to Orange (Others).
Is there ANY way you could help me to resolve this; I have about 30 groups.
I have recommended your sw for use by schools in mapping their improvement activities.
I would be grateful if you could offer me any help.
    Regards.

Thanks for this amazing service – we've created a map of community radio stations in Australia which is already making a good impression.

Just a suggestion: when filtering by group, rather than just clicking on the white part of the lower bar to cancel the filtering, I think it might be more user-friendly if there was a "View All" button or something like that to click.

Add me to the list of those hoping for more than just 6 groups for markers. I have 9 groups and it now shows 6 in colors and the remaining 3 get grouped in "Others".

Great tool though! Thank you for developing this.

My map contains 30 to 40 points. when I go over 26 points the letters A, B, C – Z disappear off the pin points and they are replaced by a dot. I put some in a different group and thought that I would get pin points with the letters again but in a different color as specified but again all the letters disappear. How do I display letters for more than 26 (A-Z) pin points?

thanks for your help.. Just started using this and love it. Jut got to get past this problem

Is it possible to show more than 6 groups? Have I done something wrong; an error in my data?

  • Rich says:

Just a few suggestions on the 6 group limit. Increasing the limit to 6 is an option but that might become cumbersome itself.

One option might be to allow an unlimited number of groupings which do not get displayed as a legend – call this the Marker Group.

All markers are displayed in either one color or in one of the 6 colors of the legend groupings as it does now – call this the Legend Group.

When you click on any individual marker location it would display all other markers in the Marker Group in a 7th color.

I am looking for the same answer as Glenn. I can’t get anything except dots in the markers… I don’t know what I am doing wrong! I have used different sizes of data (as few as 6 addresses) and still get nothing but dots!
We are trying to map church members for visitation purposes and would like to be able to identify the names associated with the marker without having to click on the marker to get that data.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Can you still only have 6 groups?? I am running into the same issue, and I need 8 groups.

  • Ari says:

I am having difficulty figuring out how to “group” my points. I have three diffrernt groups I need to display. Why can’t I figure this out? lol

  • Jamie says:

Good to be able to do this, but it’s not an intuitive UX at all. Clicking one filters out the others, and it’s not at all clear that clicking on the (dark gray, non-button) background would do anything. Users will be confused and give up.

  • Chris says:

I too need more than 6 groups. What can I do? Do I have to get pro?
