Map Printing Issues? Try this…
We recently upgraded to Google Maps API version 3. This version has a lots of advantages for access over mobile devices, and offers general performance improvements.
Unfortunately the new version also comes with some quirks around printing. Apparently some browsers will require you enable the “Print background colors and images” in order to print properly. If you are having difficulty printing maps in BatchGeo try turning on this option in your browser.
Update
This appears to be a known issue with Google Maps Version 3. The only solution I have found is to try browsers other than Internet Explorer, such as Firefox or Chrome.

I enabled the “Print background colors and images”, and it still does not display or print the location markers. Please advise. Thank you.
I have been using your great site for several years. I just returned from a trip and now receive the following error whenever I go to any of your pages:
“The Google Maps API server rejected your request because you do not have permission to use this service over SSL.”
It still allows me to paste in a list of addresses, but will not run the geocoding. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I do not _think_ I have changed any settings.
Thanks!
Found the problem on my end.
Started using HTTPS Everywhere plug-in for Firefox.
Disabling it fixed the issue.
Sorry & thanks.
I have tried to change the web page settings so i can print the maps however it is still not printing properly. It does not actually print the red markers. Is there something else I can try?
Thank you
for some reason i still can’t get the balloons on the map to print. anyone else having that problem? everything prints except the balloons even with “print background colors” checked.
I am having trouble printing the markers on my maps. I have enabled the “Print background colours and images” as you suggested, but I only get black smudge marks where the markers are supposed to be. Any suggestions? I am lost without this mapping tool as I use it daily to map out locations I need to visit for my job. This is urgent!!!
I have found a solution for Windows 7 users!! Go through all the normal steps and print out your map WITH the black smudges so that you will have a printed list of your locations. Then go to the map and enable your “snipping tool”. Cover the area that you want to capture and save to your desktop. Close page and open your map from your desktop and you will be able to print it from there. THIS WORKS!!!!!!
I am using Firefox and it will not print map The only solution I have found and its not a great one is doing a screen print of the map and printing from WORD on a separate sheet. Not the best solution but it works until there is a better solution. I will try it with Explorer tomorrow.
Thanks for a great product you save me many hours of travel every week I use Batchgeo DAILY Thank you
I would like to use Batchgeo to create a customer map that I can link to from my online store. The purpose is to show new customers how many other similar customers we already work with. So I’d like to upload the street address, but not have it appear in the information on the map. I’ve checked out the videos and searched the blog a bit and not found the answer yet — please let me know.
I have enabled the “print background colors” and the balloons still do not print. Has anyone found a solution?
you can print from explorer, but if you make a pdf there are no markers!
downloaded 2 or 3 different pdf programs. Any suggestions? (tried all of the above)
This is more of view than a print question, but I will go ahead nonetheless as perhaps someone from the co. will notice it.
Why does the map that BatchGeo creates now exclude the Google “Earth” mode button….? It didn’t last month, but now it does. Google Maps regularly includes this button now.
I’ve attempted to print a map in several different browsers – Internet Explorer 6 and the latest Chrome beta on Windows; and Safari 5, latest Chrome beta, Firefox 4 beta, and Opera 10.70 beta on Windows.
Believe it or not, the best printout is from the OLDEST browser, in this case Internet Explorer 6 on Windows. It is the only one that is actually printing out the markers, which is what I need for an upcoming project.
For once I’m happy my company is slow to upgrade!
Correction – after further testing, Safari 5 with background image printing ON is producing the best printout. See below…

Hi, I’m new to batchgeo and really love this tool. I have a question and didn’t see anything answering it so decided to post… I have a simple map with about 30 points. I would like to have the “Name” displayed right on the map next to the points, without having to click on it. Is that an option?
Thanks
Vic
This is great. But how can I label the markers 1,2,3 etc… or A,B,C, etc… as is shown on the batchgeo picture at the top of the website page?
Does anyone know when this printing problem will be cured
All – the issue has been logged as a bug with Google, they have acknowledged it as a defect. Hopefully we see a fix soon.
Darin – you will see the labels on saved maps
Hi there,
I am having an issue where the markers are showing up but without a letter (A,B,C, etc) or the name next to them on my saved maps. I have about 30 locations on my map as well. Any suggestions? I would like to use the map in my car when I don’t have access to my computer.
How can I generate a large format map that is suiatble for taking to Kinko’s and printing on D sized paper? I am working with my church to put together a display of where members of the congregation live to help decide where we need to be looking for a longer term home.
My only idea so far is to create a VNC session with a really huge virtual screen and then print that. Any other suggestions? FYI, CentOS 5 is what I use on my desktop.
Hi Some good content on here. Good work.
Any progress on the printing issue?
The admin commented a month ago?
Thanks.
Andrew – still waiting on a response from Google, here is the thread on their side:

How can I “Name” each address with, for instance, the number portion of the address. Example: 123 Main St, Detroit, MI 12345 so that “123″ will be right near the icon?
Still waiting to be able to print with an icon more than a black smudge…. Thanks

I can’t get to the fix.. what is it?
Ditto to what Ann just said – I last printed my saved maps in July but can’t now.
I am having the same printing problem. But I just discovered that I can print with Safari, but not with Firefox. I know this won’t help Windows users, but I was glad to find at least one way to print. Hopefully Google is working on it.
Oops, spoke too soon. When I decided to try Safari again. It didn’t print the placemarks.
I changed my compatibilty mode “under tools” to “display all websites in compatibility view” and now my markers will print. I hope this is helpful.
My marker locations are shifted in the paper printouts but accurate on the screen. Anyone has a fix for this ?
Helen – can you let me know what browser version you are using?
I have several addresses in an area of about 15 * 15 km.
On displa I get a correct map.
But how can I plot this map to A0-size?
Hi Fred – our Pro version has high resolution output, more details here: http://blog.batchgeo.com/export-google-maps-to-high-resolution-pdf-and-image-files/
